FRANKENBABY!

Well, it's official -- we have ourselves a walker! Last Saturday afternoon Bobby decided to shun the couch and strike off into the middle of the living room, traveling two or three feet at a time. In time-honored tradition, he started off by waddling between parents, but by Sunday he was voluntarily walking a few feet from one piece of furniture to another. And by today, he's just taking off. He's even getting good at bending down to pick things up and then standing up again! His gait can best be described as Frankenstein's Monster, and he certainly lands on his butt quite a bit, but he's getting the hang of it. And he really likes it -- he laughs with excitement when he covers new territory.

We've been kind of silent lately having been laid low with a nasty cold. Bobby & I each got two ear infections, and Roger got a nasty sinus headache that seemed to last a week. We're now on the mend -- just in time for Bobby to start teething again. The combination of the walking, his recently improved finger dexterity, and his quest to make his gums feel better has meant we have to be even more vigilent, as every tiny thing on the floor seems to end up in his mouth.

In other news (and I hesitate to put this in writing since I'll surely jinx it) Bobby has been pretty consistently sleeping through the night. A few notable exceptions, but on the whole he's getting good nights of sleep, which means we all are.

We haven't been taking many pictures lately -- we'll have to get on that. This one's a few weeks old.
