What a week!

Finding crawling to be an elusive skill, Bobby has decided to re-direct his attention to standing up. He first did this by pulling himself up on his crib rail on Monday. This was pretty exciting, so he decided to move on to other seemingly stable and convenient items, like Mommy. In fact, for the remainder of that day he pretty much insisted that I lie on my side next to him so that he could use me to grab onto.

Then, about the same time, the tooth that's been hinting around at arriving started to make a serious move. It's not quite all the way in, but today it proved that it worked by biting off a corner of some toy packaging.

Bananas and Raspberries

Roger figured out the trick to feeding Bobby -- it involves two spoons. He fills up one spoon with mashed bananas, hands it to Bobby who immediately sticks it in his mouth, and meanwhile loads up the second spoon. Then he gets the first spoon back by offering up the second spoon as a replacement, and the cycle repeats itself. Of course, since Bobby doesn't have tremendous coordination, a lot of bananas end up places other than Bobby's mouth, but most of the food is getting into him, which is progress. We're figuring we can start adding in a lot more types of food using this trick.

I adopted Roger's technique last night and learned that Bobby likes to combine his eating skills with another newly honed skill -- blowing raspberries. He's been getting pretty good at it, but last night he added a new dimension by waiting until he got the bananas to his lips, and then razzing. You'd be surprised how far bananas can travel when propelled by baby spit.
